Internation cat day is celebrated every on August 8th. This celebration was established by the International Fund for Animal Welfare in 2002. The scope was to honor, raise awareness and provide assistance to the little felines 🙂
They are sometimes viewed as aloof or distant, other times clingy and cool. Regardless, they’re almost always fluffy little creatures and live with us for centuries now. We must appreciate and recognize their contributions to our lives such as the thigh massage they provide when sitting in our laps.
In 2002 the Internationa Fund for Animal Welfare dubbed this day back in 2002 to promote animal wellbeing and protect cats from mistreatment or abuse. In 2020 this day became International Cat Care day. The UK non-profit worked to promote and assist with the health and wellbeing of domestic cats ever since 1958.
Ancient Egyptians were very fond of these creatures and they had a deity – called Bastet – in a feline form(lioness). Afterwards, newer hieroglyphs depict her as a cat. Ever since those times, people have started taking care of cats.
Utility of International Cat Day?
Unfortunately, some cats today are not given the required care and suffer abuse or improper treatment. Because of this, this day is important for all humans, not just cat lovers and sympathisers. Therefore this is the day when cats are generally given attention and awareness is raised. This year’s theme is “Cat Friendly Resources”
Doing a good deed such as rescuing or adopting a stray or shelter cat will help us celebrate this unique day ! Sadly, there are some little furries that pass away due to bat weather conditions, car accidents or diseases. They are the type of animal that requires love and attention. Adopt one or be nice to a stray one . A tiny act of kindness can have a huge impact on someone else’s life 🙂 Happy International Cat Day!!
